A first opportunity for the PUSLAR project to engage with aviation experts was provided by the 24th Workshop of the Aeroacoustics Specialists Committee of the CEAS (Council of European Aerospace Societies). On this occasion, a PULSAR side workshop was organised on 11 October 2023, between 09:00 and 13:00, at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics.
PULSAR project is building upon previous aviation research projects, such as ANIMA and X-Noise projects. The scope of the side workshop with the CEAS committee was to gather European experts on aviation noise (EU projects coordinators and national focal points) in order to revive the associated network. During this workshop, PULSAR introduced its research and educational objectives. The CEAS committee expressed clear interest in partaking in the PULSAR effort, particularly when it comes down to the educational aspects. In addition, information on current developments and views on forthcoming needs for aviation noise research were collected.
The event was attended by 25 aviation noise experts. The exchange on the PULSAR technical matters and aspirations significantly helped in gathering feedback on the database of Aviation technologies and future training requirements that PULSAR proposes, as well as on the PULSAR overall workflow. The workshop resulted in the establishment of a pathway for filling in the database. Interest in opening the process to the whole aviation community was also shown.
PULSAR aims to reduce the environmental impact of the aviation sector, looking at noise mitigation and decarbonisation solutions and technologies. While this workshop was attended by aviation noise experts only, it must be noted that the emissions experts will also be involved in the project.
